CipherMax’s Tape Encryption Solution Completes Testing Under IBM System Storage Proven™ Program

San Jose, Calif., – April 24, 2007 – CipherMax,® Inc., the technology leader of enterprise-class storage security solutions, today announced that its CM100T tape encryption product has been confirmed as IBM System Storage Proven with the successful completion of interoperability testing with IBM’s Tivoli Storage Manager, IBM System Storage 3584 Tape Library and IBM Ultrium tape drive products. The IBM System Storage Proven program builds on IBM’s already extensive interoperability efforts to develop and deliver products and solutions that work together with third-party products.

With the completion of this testing within the IBM Innovation Center, the CipherMax CM100T now joins the CM250 as an IBM System Storage Proven solution. The CipherMax CM product line is the only storage security solution with integrated SAN switching and enterprise scalability that is available to customers today.

“CipherMax products complement IBM storage solutions by offering a cost-effective and transparent solution for addressing immediate storage security requirements,” said Ray Kao, chairman and CEO of CipherMax. “Customers who have compliance requirements or data privacy concerns can easily and confidently embrace storage encryption today with CipherMax products and gain the immediate reassurance that their stored data is protected from unauthorized viewing and tampering. Our participation in this program demonstrates that CipherMax and IBM are each focused on customer satisfaction by promoting greater interoperability.”

The CipherMax CM product family is a full line of enterprise-class storage security systems that provide line-speed encryption for multiple Fibre Channel connections and ‘single pane of glass’ management interfaces for both storage and security administration. Centralized storage security management is further extended with the KeyCruiser key lifecycle management system, which provides remote key archiving and management capabilities from anywhere in the world, without manually moving encryption keys.

The CM product line offers customers a low-cost entry point for immediately implementing storage encryption, while providing the ability to scale up to hundreds of encryption ports. Customers can choose the appropriate mix of CM systems for their specific storage environment, whether they need a highly distributed deployment or a simple installation.
CM100T Series secures sensitive information stored on tape media with standards-based 256-bit AES encryption and data compression in a 1U form factor. Support for up to 16 Fibre Channel ports (or 32 ports in a clustered configuration) with integrated switching function. Supports full enterprise-class encrypted tape management with media ID (barcode) to encryption key tracking and mapping services. Integrated data integrity checking compares a digital fingerprint against its stored value to ensure the data has not been altered or corrupted. In addition, these systems provide non-evasive operation in existing tape SAN and backup application environments.

The IBM System Storage Proven program supports the ability of independent hardware and software vendors to build high-quality solutions with the latest technology on leading storage platforms as well as reduce solution design time when multiple, tested building block have already been pre-tested.
